Dexters, London’s largest estate agency group, plans to recruit up to 200 new staff through its in-house training academy next year, in a move that shines a light on its rapid growth and commitment to professional development despite wider industry cutbacks.
The expansion drive will take place through the Dexters Academy, which provides structured career development and industry-recognised qualifications.
The firm, founded in 1993 and now employing more than 2,500 people across 180 offices, is aiming to strengthen its position as London’s leading independent estate agent.
Since the academy’s launch in 2017, more than 560 trainees have completed apprenticeship and professional programmes, while over 400 staff now hold Propertymark certifications and 100 are qualified members of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS).
PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS
The company said the initiative supports government proposals for mandatory professional qualifications in the property sector and helps to raise industry standards.
Dexters’ recruitment drive comes as many of its competitors are reducing headcount and training budgets amid challenging market conditions.
The group says its continued investment in talent reflects both confidence in its growth strategy and its long-term aim of offering a full career pathway from apprentice to director.
PASSIONATE ABOUT TRAINING
Ash Kashyap (main picture, inset) Chief Executive of Dexters, says: “At a time when we hear reports that other London agents are cutting staff and slashing training budgets, Dexters is doing the opposite and we are growing through investing in our colleagues and offices, bringing on new apprentices, promoting internally and expanding our Dexters Academy.
“Our approach to apprenticeships and internal career development is part of our ‘spend your career with us’ culture, demonstrating our commitment to professionalism within our industry and attracting, retaining and developing the very best talent in the estate agency industry.”
Kashyap adds: “Dexters was the UK’s first estate agency employment training provider, and we were proud to gain accreditation by Ofsted for our dedicated Dexters Training Academy. We are passionate about investing and training our people and do everything we can to support them so they can spend their careers with us.”
