Corfu became the most searched-for overseas property destination on Rightmove in January following the broadcast of Amanda & Alan’s Greek Job.
New data from Rightmove shows searches for the Greek island nearly tripled year-on-year, rising by 173% compared with January 2025.
The surge pushed Corfu ahead of established overseas hotspots including Dubai, the Costa del Sol and the Algarve, which typically dominate interest from UK-based buyers looking abroad.
The spike mirrors a similar trend seen last year when Amanda & Alan’s Spanish Job drove a sharp rise in searches for the village of Moclín in Granada, Spain.
GROWING INFLUENCE
Rightmove said the data highlights the growing influence of television and lifestyle programming on buyer behaviour, particularly in the overseas market where aspirational purchases often begin with online browsing.
Colleen Babcock, property expert at Rightmove, says: “Time and again we see curious home-hunters flock to see properties for sale in locations they’ve seen on TV or in films.
“In this case, the popularity of Amanda Holden & Alan Carr’s renovation projects took Corfu right to the top of overseas destination searches.
“It’s a beautiful home and we hope it finds the right buyer.”
