LRG has completed the acquisition of the Northern Estate Agencies Group, adding 36 branches across West Yorkshire, Derbyshire, Lancashire and Greater Manchester to its growing national network.
The move cements LRG’s presence from Wetherby in Yorkshire to Ventnor on the Isle of Wight, creating one of the UK’s most geographically diverse property groups.
The acquisition includes three long-established and high-performing regional brands – Manning Stainton, Ryder & Dutton and Mortimers – all of which will continue to operate under their existing names.
Together, the businesses employ more than 400 people and provide residential sales, lettings, financial services, conveyancing, auctions and new homes. All staff and branches are being retained.
BIGGER PICTURE
The deal marks one of LRG’s largest regional acquisitions to date and follows a series of high-profile takeovers in recent years, including Chancellors, Acorn, Stirling Ackroyd, Gibbs Gillespie, scottfraser and Portico.
The company said the move forms part of its wider strategy to expand nationally while maintaining strong local brands with deep community roots.
Mark Manning (main picture, left), Group Managing Director of Northern Estate Agencies Group, will continue in his role and remain a shareholder in the business. He will be supported by his father, Russell Manning, the retiring Chairman and Founder, who will stay on as a consultant.
Mark Manning says: “We are excited to enter this next phase of our growth working with LRG, a business we have long admired. Their commitment to local brands working alongside great people, together with the work they do within our communities, aligns with our own values.”
SIGNIFICANT ACQUISITION

Matthew Light, Group Mergers & Acquisitions Director at LRG, adds: “We are delighted to welcome Northern Estate Agencies Group into the LRG family. This is one of our most significant acquisitions, alongside Chancellors, Acorn, Stirling Ackroyd, Gibbs Gillespie, scottfraser and Portico.
“Our strategy is to partner with both smaller and more established regional agencies, retain their local identities, grow them, and provide the support and scale of a national business.
“With several major acquisitions now completed and more opportunities in the pipeline for 2025 and 2026, this deal sets the tone for the next exciting phase of our growth.”
MAJOR MILESTONE

Michael Cook, Chief Executive Officer of LRG, adds: “This acquisition marks another major milestone for LRG as we expand fully into Yorkshire and Lancashire. Northern Estate Agencies Group is built on trusted local brands, talented people and a strong reputation for service.
“By bringing them into LRG, we not only strengthen our geographic reach but also add to the breadth of expertise and community focus that are central to our business.
“We are excited to work with Mark and the teams at Ryder & Dutton, Manning Stainton and Mortimers to build on their success and continue delivering outstanding results for clients.”
