Care firm opens base at £200m Royal Haslar development

A specialist home-care provider has opened a new on-site branch at Royal Haslar waterfront village, the £200 million regeneration of the former Royal Navy hospital on the Solent.

Serenity Care Solent has taken space in Trinity House, the Grade II-listed Georgian centrepiece of the 62-acre scheme near Alverstoke, becoming the first dedicated care operator to be based within the emerging residential community.
The move gives residents direct access to person-centred home care as the first phase of homes at Trinity House is completed and occupied.

Royal Haslar, which operated as a naval hospital from 1753 until 2007, is being transformed into a mixed-tenure village of more than 550 homes alongside retail, leisure and business space, and a new heritage museum. The redevelopment includes a blend of market-sale and senior-living properties, with prices currently starting from £220,000.

Royal Haslar, which operated as a naval hospital from 1753 until 2007, is being transformed into a mixed-tenure village of more than 550 homes alongside retail, leisure and business space, and a new heritage museum.

Serenity Care Solent, founded in 2019 by Beverley and Stephen Mander, employs around 50 staff across Gosport, Fareham and Lee-on-the-Solent.

The Care Quality Commission-regulated business provides a wide range of services including personal and dementia care, companionship, medication support, respite and live-in care, with a focus on continuity and tailored care plans.

Being based within the Royal Haslar estate allows carers to work alongside a growing range of on-site services, including 24-hour security, telehealth support and property management, aimed at supporting residents who want to remain independent in their own homes.

SIGNIFICANT STEP

Beverley Mander (main picture, inset), founder and director of care at Serenity Care Solent, says: “We are excited to be expanding our services to Royal Haslar waterfront village, which reflects our continued commitment to providing high-quality, compassionate, and consistent care within the local community.

“Our presence here will allow residents to access our full range of services easily and conveniently, and to also benefit from our extensive local knowledge. We can’t wait to get know the residents here, one visit, one smile and one person-centred plan at a time.”

Developers of Royal Haslar say the addition of a permanent, on-site care provider marks a significant step in repositioning the former hospital site as a modern waterfront community that still reflects its long association with healthcare and recovery.
