Boyer hires Walton to lead South as planning pressure grows

Planning consultancy Boyer has appointed Jonathan Walton as Director and Head of Boyer South as the firm strengthens its senior team amid rising demand for planning, regeneration and stakeholder engagement expertise.

Walton will be based at LRG’s head office at Meadows Business Park in Camberley and will lead the southern team as clients face increasingly complex planning conditions, tighter delivery programmes and greater scrutiny on development proposals.
He brings more than 25 years’ experience across residential-led regeneration and mixed-use development, with recent work spanning commercial, retail, healthcare and education projects, as well as specialist leisure and sport schemes.

Boyer says the appointment reflects growing demand from developers for support navigating viability challenges, infrastructure requirements and the political sensitivities often attached to large-scale housing and regeneration sites.

Walton takes over the role from Karen Charles, who has been promoted to Executive Director and will focus on the wider growth of the business alongside Grant Leggett.

Charles says: “Jonathan is a strong leader and an outstanding addition to Boyer. He brings the sort of experience that clients value when projects are complex, high-profile and politically sensitive – the ability to spot risk early, build a route through it and keep stakeholders engaged without losing momentum”.

Walton adds: “I’m delighted to be joining Boyer, a move that will add to the existing team’s exceptional skills sets and industry knowledge and experience. I look forward to playing my part in the next chapter of Boyer South’s growth and development, a team which I have inherited in exceptionally good shape”.

He joins from Opus Works Group, where he was Planning and Development Director, and has previously held senior roles at Pegasus Group, Turley and Peter Brett Associates.
