Angela Rayner is set to take centre stage at this year’s Propertymark One conference in a move that places one of the UK’s most influential political figures directly in front of property professionals.
The former Deputy Prime Minister and most recent Secretary of State for Housing, Communities and Local Government will address delegates at a time of sweeping reform across the private rented sector and housebuilding landscape.
Rayner played a central role in Labour’s return to power after more than a decade in opposition and went on to oversee significant legislative change, including the Renters’ Rights Act, the Planning and Infrastructure Act and the Government’s commitment to deliver 1.5 million new homes by the end of the parliamentary term.
Her appearance comes as agents continue to navigate the practical implications of rental reform, planning overhaul and new supply targets – placing housing policy firmly at the top of the industry agenda.
POLITICAL FOCUS
Before entering Parliament, Rayner left school at 16 and worked as a domiciliary care worker. She later became a trade union representative and senior elected leader with Unison in North West England, experiences that have shaped her political focus on opportunity, fairness and community.
Within a decade of joining the Labour Party, she was elected to Parliament, rose to become Shadow Education Secretary and was later elected Deputy Leader of the Party. Following Labour’s general election victory, she entered government and led wide-ranging housing reforms aimed at reshaping the sector.
SIGNIFICANT MOMENT

Jason Lee, Head of Commercial at Propertymark, says: “Angela Rayner is one of the most pivotal figures in UK politics and housing policy today and we are delighted to welcome her to Propertymark One.
“Her influence on the national conversation around housing, communities and opportunity has been profound, and her career journey resonates with many across the sector.
“Having a political leader of her profile and experience address our conference underlines the scale and importance of Propertymark One within the industry. It represents a significant moment for agents to hear from someone who has helped shape the direction of housing at the highest level of government.”
With legislative reform continuing to reshape lettings, planning and development, Rayner’s address is expected to be one of the most closely watched sessions of the conference.
