Propertymark is urging letting and estate agents to get ahead of major legislative change with a free webinar examining how reforms already introduced in Scotland and Wales could shape the future of the private rented sector in England.
The webinar, Renters’ Rights Act – preparing for change: experiences from Scotland and Wales, takes place today (20 January 2026) from 14:30 to 15:30, and is aimed at helping agents understand what the forthcoming Renters’ Rights Act will mean in practice.
With significant regulatory reform approaching, the session draws on real-world experience from Scotland and Wales, where measures including periodic tenancies and the removal of no-fault evictions are already established.
Propertymark says these insights will help agents anticipate operational changes and better support both landlords and tenants as the legislation is rolled out.
EXPERT PANEL
The panel includes Timothy Douglas, Head of Policy and Campaigns at Propertymark; Angela Davey, Head of Lettings at Peter Alan Ltd, bringing experience of operating under Welsh rental regulation; and Brian Moran, former Lettings Director at Your Move Scotland, offering first-hand insight from the Scottish market.
Attendees will receive practical guidance on tenancy structures, eviction processes, contract requirements and rising property standards, alongside the opportunity to put questions directly to the panel.
VALUABLE OPPORTUNITY
Timothy Douglas (main picture) says: “With big changes coming, the Renters’ Rights Act reflects many of the reforms we’ve seen successfully navigated in Scotland and Wales.
“This webinar provides a valuable opportunity for agents in England to delve into these issues, learn from expertise and practical approaches, and ensure they can support their clients and adapt their business with confidence.
“Propertymark has a UK wide membership and network for agents to tap into with the webinar sitting alongside our Toolkit of resources that have been provided to support agents to adapt to the changes under the Act.”
Participation is free, and agents who cannot attend the live session will be sent a recording to review at their convenience.
