Agents flock to new property app after TV campaign boost

A new property discovery app claims to be attracting strong interest from estate agents and home-seekers following the launch of a national TV campaign with its creators positioning the platform as an alternative to traditional property portals.

HOMING IN, which uses geo-location technology to show nearby homes as users travel through an area, says agents are signing up in growing numbers as they look for new ways to generate leads without relying solely on the major listing sites.
The app displays virtual for-sale and to-let boards on screen based on a user’s location, allowing buyers and tenants to see what is available in surrounding streets without entering detailed search criteria.

Developers say the approach is designed to replicate the spontaneity of spotting a physical board while walking or driving through a neighbourhood, while also revealing properties that do not have a board outside.

LEAD CONTROL

The company says the platform directs enquiries straight to agents’ own websites rather than hosting full listings, which it claims gives agents more control over leads and reduces marketing costs.

Corin Ashbee-Waugh, CEO of HOMING IN, says: “We’ve been inundated with agent requests to join. Unlike conventional portals, we don’t ingest the full property details, rather we use the home-seekers’ most important criteria (location, price, and size) to display the virtual for-sale and to-let boards, while sending enquiries direct to the agents’ websites for the full particulars, enabling direct contact with home-seekers.”

He adds: “In the first week of our user-awareness campaign, we’ve sent 1,793 home-seekers direct to agents’ websites. Cost to the agents? £0.00. We will not be charging agents for at least a year and, beyond that, pledge to limit rates to no more than 10% of Rightmove, with a 3 year no-price-rise guarantee.”
