A foodie’s property paradise hits the market: Edwardian Bray cottage with The Fat Duck located next door

Foxtons is marketing a gorgeous 3-bed Edwardian cottage in the delightful Thames-side village of Bray, Berkshire.

The London estate and lettings agency says that the fabulous and historic property will make the perfect home for passionate gourmands thanks to its close proximity to two Michelin-Star restaurants, one of which is located quite literally next door, and two further world-beating eateries just down the road.
The cottage comes complete with private gardens front and rear, a large lounge with woodburner, dining room with sitting area, cottage kitchen, three generous bedrooms, and two bathrooms.

Dating back to 1901, its wooden beams, high ceilings and large windows make it a unique property with an enviable bounty of period features.

It is also situated directly next door to Heston Blumenthal’s three-star restaurant, The Fat Duck, which has been named as one of the 50 best restaurants in the world and has a reputation for being a temple to innovative Modern British cuisine.

If that wasn’t enough, the cottage is also just a short walk away from three more of Bray’s world-leading restaurants: The Waterside Inn, The Hinds Head, and The Crown.

The Waterside Inn is owned and operated by Alain Roux, part of the Roux cooking dynasty which includes his father, Michel Roux, and his cousin Michel Roux Jr.

For more than 25 years, The Waterside Inn has held three Michelin Stars, making it the first restaurant outside of France to achieve this astonishing accomplishment.

The Hinds Head is a restaurant and hotel that has been serving guests since the 15th Century and has been pioneering British pub food since Heston Blumenthal took ownership in 2014.

Just down the road, The Crown at Bray, featured in the Michelin Guide, is a 16th Century gastro pub once owned by Heston Blumenthal and now run by his former associate, James Lee. It serves modern pub cuisine in a cosy setting of low ceilings and log fires.

DOOMSDAY BOOK 1086

Aside from the amazing choice of world class dining, the village of Bray, which dates back to the Doomsday Book of 1086, also boasts a three-mile frontage on the River Thames featuring gorgeous riverside walks and a marina.

The cottage itself is located within approximately a five drive of Maidenhead train station where the Elizabeth Line provides easy access to central London and Heathrow airport. The home has an approximate floorspace of 125 sq m, a freehold tenure, and is on the market for £825,000.

GRACEFUL CHARM

Nicky Jones, Head of Virtual Sales and Lettings at Foxtons, says: “Oozing graceful charm and elegant period features, great room sizes and high ceilings, this lovely cottage really is the perfect place to come home to.  All this, plus becoming part of a real village community and offering an enviable lifestyle.

“As well as the fine dining, there are acres of parkland, woodland walks and cycleways on the doorstep and a beautiful stretch of the river to drop your SUP or kayak into at the end of a long day – what better way to work off all that Michelin starred food.

“There’s even a Resident’s parking space just outside. The M4 is just a 5 mins drive, so ideal for commuters with Heathrow accessible in just over half an hour. It really doesn’t get any better.”
